Kurt Schneider, Head Coach

My  name is Kurt Schneider and I have been coaching high school basketball for the last 16 years.  Most of those years have been coaching boys in various high schools.  I have twins that are 11 years old and a 8 year old son.  My wife’s name is Kim Schneider and we have been married for 16 years.  I am originally from Wyoming and have moved several times throughout my child hood.  I played basketball at Eastern Utah and then went on to play at Montana State.  I started teaching in 1999 at Ben Lomond High School and have taught at Kearns High, Granger High and now Highland.

Taylor Munroe, Media Relations Coordinator

Taylor will begin serving his 4th year with the Lady Rams as the Media Relations Coordinator. Taylor is over all social media accounts, website management, film, and statistics.

 

After graduating from Highland in 2013, Taylor is currently pursuing his associates degree in video production at Salt Lake Community College.

 

Along with his duties at Highland, Taylor serves as the Pepsi Intern & Promotions Coordinator for all 5 nationally ranked sports in Athletics at Salt Lake Community College. He oversees all Digital Signage, Youtube Channel, and is over all activities during Athletic Events.

 

 

Missy Mackay-Whiteurs, Athletic Director

Missy Mackay-Whiteurs is serving her 2nd year as the Athletic Director here at Highland High School. In previous years, she has served as the Principal for the Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts, Assistant Principal for Highland High School. She is currently teaching Physical Education at Highland High School, and she is also the Advisor of the only Pep Club in the state of Utah.

Missy is over all Athletic Teams at Highland High School.

Derek Tedder, Head Athletic Trainer

Derek is the Director of Sports Medicine at Highland High School. He works with Highland High athletes, coaches, administrators, and other health care professionals in overseeing the care of the injured athlete and their return to play. Additionally, he offers performance enhancement training to athletes helping them achieve their highest athletic capacity. In addition to his Director duties, Derek teaches the Sports Medicine class at Highland High School.

Derek graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor's in Exercise and Sports Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training (Sport's Medicine). He also received his Master's in Exercise and Sports Science with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology (Performance Enhancement). 

 

Derek has been working with Highland High since 2008 where he did his Graduate Assistantship. He joined Hand & Orthopedic Rehabilitation Specialists in 2010. Highland High has allied with Hand & Ortho to expand its medical coverage within the community; so the student-athletes from Highland High remain safe, as well as receive the best medical care possible if an injury should occur.

 

Derek supervises and trains Sports Medicine students from the University of Utah, using Highland High School as a clinical instructional setting.

 

Derek is a native to Salt Lake City. He loves being active in all sports. He enjoys spending time with his friends and family.
